NOTICE OF VACANCY
 
POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE 
PACU, Day Surgery, Pre-Admit Screening 
Primary Sites: Stratford and Clinton
Regular Part-Time x2
(Shifts: 8-hour shifts, days and evenings, may be subject to change)
 
REPORTS TO: Manager, Surgical Services 
 
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
 
SALARY: $35.99 to $38.16 per hour
 
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Recent Cardiac Arrhythmia course (current experience preferred)
 
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care surgical setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Experience in cardiac nursing preferred
- BLS
- Completion of IV Therapy course 
- Completion of IV Start course 
- Skilled in Medication Administration
- IV drug administration
- Insertion of Gastric tubes
- Flushing of PRN adaptors
- Accessing & administering fluids and medications via peripheral and central IV lines
- Accessing subcutaneous ports and medication administration 
 
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent physical assessment skills 
- Excellent patient education skills
- Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information System and       personal computer applications
- Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making
- Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the         interprofessional care team
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
- Ability to meet the physical demand of the position
